Chango, The King Who Became A God

Chango, The King Who Became A God

By:

There are a lot of stories about Chango. He was the king of the West African city Oyo. He was cruel and kind. He was a womanizer and a woman lover. He was a great strategist, yet incredibly passionate and sympathetic. He was a man who felt deeply, lived life, and hung himself from a tree out of self-indulgence. Chango is followed all over the Americas, in Africa, and Europe because, according to legend, he was the first man to become enlightened.

Just imagine, driving in your car in the pitch black with one headlight. You wouldn't be able to see much. You would only be able to see the road directly in front of you. This is how most people go through life. They live just to satisfy and fulfill their basic needs such as, hunger, sexual desires, and sleep. There are others who drive with two headlights. These people can see twice as much; they can see more of the road, side-roads and signs. Their immediate desires are fulfilled, yet they are still looking to fulfill other desires such as security, love, and stability.

Then there are those who drive with their high beams on. They can see whole intersections and U-turns. These are the people who have satisfied virtually all of there physical needs. They can see more of the road, and are able to make decisions that have a grave effect on themselves and others. These people become the business moguls, visionaries, philanthropist, and star athletes.

Then, you have the very few people who don't need headlights at all, because they don't drive in the dark. These people are awakened, enlightened. These are great prophets, Gods, and kings. They are the people who had gone through all the stages of driving with just one, then two, headlights. And after many years, or lifespans they realized that they didn't have to operate in the dark.

This concept, explains Chango's process. He was a man who lived life. He failed and succeeded. He loved and he lost. He learned from each experience and pushed himself forward, until there was nowhere else to go. He killed himself from the indulgence of life. However, only the human part of him died. The God part of him began to live on, defying the laws of man.

Many religions speak about enlightenment. However, very few people will be awakened in their lifetime. This is because people need to experience life fully and have all of their physical and basic needs met. People who are unable to fulfill their basic needs will have a difficult time growing spiritually, and will have a hard time trying to attract abundance, success, and love into their lives.
