Changing Times Improving Acoustic Guitar Tutorials

By:

Those who are in tune with the musical and display an uncanny geniality in playing a musical instrument will be all too familiar with the process of learning to play. For people who did not have the privilege of using a computer and surfing the internet will not have had the equally privileged experience of downloading free video tutorials or cheap tutorials at the touch of a mouse button rather than hunting down a good tutor, or scavenging the towns for a good tutorial book.

Most people would have learnt to have played the acoustic guitar on their own without resorting to personalised or private acoustic guitar tutorials. Resources in the past were much more limited, with very little in terms of visual aid. One would have to master the talent of listening to a certain piece of music, taking in the notes and guessing how to play it on their guitar, whilst recognising the notes and becoming familiar with playing chords.

The difficulty in learning to play on your own is finding the right way of holding the guitar and the correct way to strum rather than playing in a rigid motion which would normally happen for a beginner. In the past books and tutors were the main methods of learning to play, a lot of other techniques consisted of strumming until you began to hit notes that sounded good. Acoustic guitar tutorials were much more expensive and it may have taken longer for people to learn if the resources were limited; yet if the drive and passion to play was strong enough then the beginner would have seen much more improvements in just a short space of time.

These days acoustic guitar tutorials could not be easier to find due to the massive World Wide Web and downloadable software's made abundantly available for eager learners to take to their guitars. These videos are much more cost effective than shelling out money to a private tutor and can be acquired in next to no time at just the tip of a mouse button. These tutorials are detailed, with close up shots of guitar playing techniques and are taught so that people of any level can learn to play their favourite tunes.

Often learners can pick up the guitar playing techniques quicker than they would if they were taking weekly lessons from someone professional. Due to the freedom that they have upon learning, taking as long or as little time for each lesson, independently selecting which section to practise and being able to control the lesson themselves, helps them develop their own style of playing rather than taking on board another person's (often biased) style of playing.

Other methods include learning to read tablature which is a simpler version of music notes, making it easier to play from and becoming familiar with each chord. Learning notes may take a bit more time, but is worth keeping mind of so as to be able to successful practise and learn how to play from just simply listening to the tune. Furthermore, you will also improve upon tuning the strings on your guitar and understand what each string should sound like without having to use an electric tuner.
