Change Your Work Environment To A Green One

By:

Is your work environment an eco-friendly and green environment? If it's not, it's time to make some changes! More and more companies are becoming conscious about this and for good reason. It's obviously great for the environment, but it will also help the overall attitude in the work place.

Going green is a long process. There are many things you can change in the office or warehouse, but it doesn't all need to happen at the same time. It's ok to take slow steps if needed.

In order to start this process, come up with a plan on where you want to begin. Start to build awareness in the work environment so people know there are going to be some changes made. Everyone's in on it together and you will all feel great about yourselves.

A good place to start is paper! We all know where paper comes from and how it's been harming the earth for many years. Most of us probably don't think about this on a daily basis, but it's the truth! Change the paper you're using!

Make sure your company is using paper that is part of the Forest Certification Program. To find this information out, check the company website of your paper supplier or contact them. They'll know right away!

Are you using recycled paper? Most packages of paper will indicate if it's recycled or not. Many paper companies use post consumer products and make paper from it. The higher the percentage of the recycled goods, the better!

This next step may surprise you. If you're company uses flyers and other sorts of printed materials, only use vegetable based ink. If you haven't heard of this type of ink, it's growing in popularity for several reasons. It's easier to recycle this paper. The ink is also made from soy beans, which is easily made without releasing greenhouse gases.

Making the office a greener environment is a great idea! Employees will all love it and you will all feel great about helping the earth. Good luck!
