Chandigarh is called The City Beautiful Chandigarh is modern Indias great experiment in town planning. Born out of anguish & angst of the partition in 1947, it was Indias first planned city designed by a French architect, Le Corbusier.

Chandigarh is picturesquely located at the foothills of the shivaliks & plays a very unique role of being the capital of two states Punjab & Haryana. Though the buildings seem to be un-Indian but the beautifully planned roads & numerous gardens make this city extremely pleasant to visit and live in.
You must See-
-Sukhna Lake:
A must visit place in the city is sukhna lake which is an ideal place for picnic and water sports activities like boating and water skiing.

-Rock Garden:
Another remarkable place in Chandigarh is the Rock garden, the idea of which was conceived by Nek chand. It is a unique garden full of art objects created from industrial and urban wastes.

-Rose Garden:
Spread over 30 acres of land & exhibiting over 1600 different species, the Rose Garden is Asias largest rose garden

-Sector 17:
Shopping in the city is also a different experience altogether. One can enjoy shopping in huge malls and arcades. Being a cosmopolitan city, eateries, coffee houses, bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels are present in a large number and are pleasantly occupied. The main shopping market in Chandigarh is located at sector-17, which has become the most happening spot of the city.
-Pinjore Garden:
Aurangzebs foster brother designed these idyllic gardens in the 17th century. The 100-acre garden serves as the venue of The Annual Mango Festival.

-Morni Hills
So named after a queen who ruled this place-is an offshoot of the shivalik range. The climate of Morni is quite pleasant and it offers interesting trekking options.

-Chattbir Zoo
One of the major attractions of this Zoo is The Lion Safari

-The Open Hand in The Capitol Complex
It is a giant hand 14m high & weighs around 50 tones and rotates like a weathercock, representing the direction of wind.
