CEREC - New Technology Save Time
Some years back, cosmetic dentistry techniques like veneers and porcelain crowns needed you to visit your dentist at least twice. Besides that, you were also forced to wait for a definite period of time, prior to your dental replacements were made, usually about 2-3 weeks.
But now due to the latest CEREC technology, reinstating the usual look of your teeth has become quite simple. Today, you can derive the ease of getting tailor-made porcelain crowns, veneers and fillings in only one sitting.
What is CEREC?
CEREC denotes Chairside Restoration of Esthetics Ceramics. The main intention is to offer the patients the alternatives of getting their dentistry finished in 1 sitting, not 2 or 3. Due to this, many cosmetic dental restorations can be finished within few minutes or hours and not days or weeks.
Why is CEREC widely used
CEREC employs the newest CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Machinery) know-how and can create porcelain veneers, crowns, inlays, and onlays in only 1 visit. It implies you get good-looking teeth very quickly.
How is it carried out? It is performed by using a computer-aided replica and an optical imprint. The cosmetic dentist can get an optical imprint by painting the tooth with a titanium dioxide powder. The powder permits the infrared rays from the camera to view the accurate shapes of the tooth. This gives a high clarity optical stamp of your teeth. Then, a virtual copy of the tooth is exhibited on a monitor next to the chair.
Prior to commencing the procedure, your teeth will be checked to detect the best cure for your particular needs. If a CEREC restoration is advised, your tooth will go through groundwork for the reinstatement. An optical imprint of your tooth will be created. This high clarity optical imprint will be used for creating a ceramic restoration that suits properly within the groundwork.
A complete porcelain block is then kept in a milling chamber and a milled reinstatement is finished in only 15 minutes from beginning to end. The reinstatement will be checked for correct size and hue.
However take care to ask your dentist if CEREC is appropriate for you.
