Being invited to a dinner party to people who have everything a present in the form of a ceramic, handmade and decorated household shape is always a good idea.
All your friends and family have fully outfitted kitchens and tableware but there is always space for a colourful present.
This could be a hand painted
ovenproof dish, oval shaped or rectangular, good for lasagna, shepherds pie, fruit crumbles and similar. Ideal is oven to table ware that can decorate and brighten up anybodys dinner table. Most of us have white plates and dishes, so a brightly coloured ceramic ovenproof dish, in deep gold, green, blue or red brings that necessary glow to the table.
It could also be a hand decorated water or
wine jug, or just a small red fire gravy boat. These items add some much atmosphere to any table and usually your host does not have that last special item to perfect their own dinner table.
Other ideas are the ceramic
ramekin, in deep red, blue, yellow gold, or decorated any panacotta or crme brulee looks so much nicer in a hand painted dish. And, with the Christmas season upon us, they are also ideal for individual Christmas Puddings!
If you are looking for a gift thats not directly for the dinner table you could choose a ceramic hand made and decorated
soap dish, round or rectangular, in one colour or designed.
A beautiful provencal vase is also an ideal and very individual gift. They come in different shapes from the round tulip vase to large red and yellow and hand decorated tall vases for lilies and other tall flowers.
A handmade and decorated
wine cooler for that delicious bottle of Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc is another idea. They are normally not glazed inside to keep it cooler but that also means that water might seep through so make sure that you pick up the saucer going along with it. But it looks so much more special than any ordinary wine cooler, its straight and takes less space away on the table and it is unique. When the dinner party is over, this wine cooler can be used as a vase (and again, do not forget a saucer to collect the seeping water!).
All in all, Mediterranean ceramics make wonderful presents for anybody, the bachelor, the single woman, the couple with a new home and your parents who have everything.
