Cellulite Removal: More About Invasive Techniques

By:

If you are looking for efficient ways to remove cellulite, you are probably asking yourself if all these invasive cellulite removal techniques can give you the long lasting results you are after. Let's take a look at some of these methods, and let's see if they really deliver on their promises.

Liposuction

When women hear the word "liposuction", many of them think of removing cellulite. However, this is one of the most common mistakes people make, because liposuction is a fat removal method but doesn't work for cellulite. What liposuction does is to remove under skin fat. This makes you thinner and better looking but does not have any impact on the visibility of cellulite. Cellulite is the inside skin fat deposit. It cannot be removed by liposuction. In fact, liposuction may even worsen the look of your cellulite, as it removes a 'fat cushion' from under your skin, which makes it more even looking. However, there is a way liposuction can help you to get rid of cellulite. It is our number two treatment: fat injections.

Fat Injections

This is when your own fat, obtained through liposuction, is being injected into the cellulite affected areas of your skin. Literally, your own fat combats your cellulite. This injected fat makes the skin more even and improves its look. The skin stretches up a bit and sort of puffs up to cover cellulite. However, this cellulite treatment cannot be viewed as permanent, because the injected fat cells may die and be consumed by the body. So, this lowers the effectiveness of fat injections for cellulite treatment.

Mesotherapy

This cellulite treatment is administered through multiple injections of a mix of vitamins, herbs and drugs. This mix is injected during mesotherapy sessions. To produce any visible cellulite reduction effect, one has to go through at least 10 of these sessions. There has not been done a lot of scientific research on the safety and efficacy of mesotherapy. Therefore, its cellulite removal effects are not proven. No one really knows how the injected mix is being dissolved or removed from the body and what kind of side effects it may cause. Patients who underwent mesotherapy report that it was effective to treat their condition. However, this therapy is pretty expensive. Mesotherapy cannot remove cellulite once and for all. To maintain its effects, repeated treatment is required.

Lower Body Lift

This is done by cutting out extra skin from the belly and back and pulling up the skin of the lower body part. This surgery does not treat cellulite, but it pulls up the skin, makes it tighter and thus covers up cellulite and lessens its visibility.

Subcision

This is the only therapy which produces long lasting results in treating cellulite. The cellulite removal is done by cutting the connective tissue strips which attach the skin to the muscles underneath it. These connective tissues pull the skin down and make the fat cells to pop up of the skin, producing the orange peel effect. Subcision is done with a sharp knife, moved underneath the skin. This cellulite treatment is the most intrusive and traumatic of all treatments. The skin takes a long time to heal up afterwards. This method is also used for removing acne scars, so it has been tested pretty well. However, this method cannot be applied on all areas of cellulite and its has other restrictions as to its application.

As you may see, there is no fast therapy for cellulite. Its treatment is complicated and one has to consider all the risks involved in threating this non medical condition. If you prefer to treat cellulite the natural and less expensive way, you should learn more about cellulite diet, exercises, and creams.
