A cell phone, often called a mobile phone, is a long-range electronic device that is used for communication by voice or data over a group of stations called cell sites.

Cell phones are so common these days and most everyone has one including kids, which accounts for the highly profitable mobile industry and how cheap cell phones are readily available these days as opposed to the past. Cell phones get their power through rechargeable batteries, disposable batters, cigarette lighter socket, a solar panel or dynamo.

Most cell phone carriers provide the same basic features: voice mail, caller id, holding or call waiting and call forwarding. Often times some of the best features can cost extra money so the best thing to do is to carefully choose the features and options you need and those that best fit into your life style. Other features to consider adding to your cell phone include: size, ergonomic, screen size, battery type, mode, display, price, special features, looks and robustness.

There are some special features that are available to add to your cell phone, including: text, modem, PC synchronization, MP3, GPS and Internet. There are also smartphone that are all-in-one mini computer cell phones, these are the best option for those who need an all inclusive phone, and will save money in the long run, but all in all it is important to only to add features if you definitely plan on using them.

All cell phones have LCD displays but the features on each display can vary. The size of the display can be larger, but tends to be more expensive. Most cell phones have monochrome displays but there are many increasing with color. Cell phones that do have color screens need to have more memory and they also tend to be more expensive

The size of a cell phone is a very important feature to consider when deciding on one. You must think about how you plan to use the phone. Are you going to be mostly using in the car or carrying it in your pocket all day? This will help you decide the size and weight of the phone that is best for you.

If you are going to be carrying it in your pocket all day, of course you will want a phone that is smaller in size. But, keep in mind that while the small phones are cute and highly portable, they are not too user-friendly and can be more difficult to use because the buttons will be smaller as well.
