Celebrate The Outdoors With More Than 50 Years Of Land Cruiser

Essential Tools in Transport
Tradition sets vehicles apart. Traditional vehicles have proven their value and their worth to the market. The Land Cruiser for decades has been the best Japanese four-wheel drive vehicle. It is used by essential services. Police use it and rescue services use it. Fire services and ambulances use Land Cruisers. The army uses them in many countries. The Land Cruiser is a popular choice because it has pedigree and tradition. Toyota has also done well in keeping a traditional truck full of modern technologies.
Venturing off the PAth
A Land Cruiser comes with rigid axles on both front and rear. This means that the suspension is not independent and the wheels move with each other. This is the suspension setup on the first SUV because it makes for an extra tough chassis. The 2011 Land Cruiser uses a rigid rear axle with coil springs and an anti-roll bar. The front suspension is independent. This means the wheels move by themselves and an action on one wheel will not cause the other wheel to move. The front suspension has coil springs too. It is a wishbone setup and is very tough. The vehicle has anti-lock brakes with big Brembo brakes at all the wheels. The four-wheel-drive system is clever. It can control each wheel independently. If one wheel slips the engine sends power to the wheel with the most grip. The Land Cruiser will keep moving on extremely slippery surfaces. There is a limited slip differential as well.
Powerplant
This year, Toyota is using a 5.7 litre 381 horsepower double overhead cam engine. There are 32 valves and the engine makes 400 pound feet of torque. It is more than enough to get the truck moving and ,in some cases, the engine can hustle to 60 miles per hour in 8.9 seconds. This is a very good time for a large vehicle. The transmission that drives the wheels is a 6 speed automatic which is controlled electronically. It has a feature to crawl up or down steep slopes to prevent sliding. A used Land Cruiser transmission can have either 5 or 6 speeds so be sure you know what you buy if you have to do any replacement. The engines these days are in the Tundra so a used engine can easily be found.

Luxury
The Land Cruiser is a luxurious vehicle. It always has been. Leather and air-conditioning are standard. Heated front seats are standard and there is a DVD system in the back of the cabin. As many as 8 people can fit in a Land Cruiser and there is space for their stuff as well.
Verdict
Toyota's Land Cruiser continues to reign supreme as the only true Japanese off-road vehicle. It has changed over time but the essential ability to go anywhere is not lost. This year it goes anywhere with the best comforts.
