Causes Of Dry Eyes

By:

Generally, a dry eye is a condition that doctors and medical science cannot diagnose properly. As many a times for checking the symptoms of dry eyes, the doctors take the broad view of symptoms into consideration. A dry eye is a case that does not seem too different from other infections of this kind.

Many a times, it happens that the doctor does not seem to check the intensity of dry eyes and thus, cannot prescribe accurate treatment. In such a situation, they may delay the treatment or on the contrary, the patient may back out seeing no effect of the prescribed medicines on their conditions.

There are many reasons for dry eyes. A very simple reason might be some recent laser surgery done on the patients eyes. Sometimes, bacterial infection namely the staphylococci under the eyelids may also be the reason for dry eyes. A facial infections or defect may also lead to drying of eyes.

This normally points out to the attack of rosacea. Instead of dry eyes, the infection may also arise from some other source such as the syndrome, which affects the functioning of the tear glands. Disorders or infections that lead to reddening of skin also results in drying of eyes. Arthritis is also said to be one of the reasons for dry eyes.

The change in the quantity of tear production due to hormonal changes in common situations of pregnancy and menstruation may also result in the occurrence of dry eyes. Among these causes, an external cause is the defect in the medicines namely, the unknown side effects of certain medicines. Some of these causes are very normal and thus, the medical practitioners can cure them with meagre treatments namely creams and ointments.

This also means that the treatment may only provide the patients relief for a short period. Types of home remedies often concentrate on curing the eyelid infections first and then act on the other parts. Thus, if the patient cribs for difficulties in closing and opening of eyelids, then it is high time that he or she switches to some other effective solutions over home remedies.

These remedies open up the ducts in the eyes and thus, the tear quality deters. However, these ideas may not be suitable for everyone, but it may prove effective in most of the cases. If the patient is going through the troubles of differing amount of tears, then he or she may use artificial tears, but during this process, the patient has to be careful in choosing the perfect one.

The treatment that many practitioners put the patients through may not be sometimes suitable, as they may even cause damage to your eyes. Thus, the patient has to be very careful to prevent the exposure of eyes to chemicals and other related preservatives in the medicines.
