Cat Odor - Some Removal Tips

By:

In many homes where cats live as much loved and adored pets, those home owners know what problem it is to remove cat odors both from their house and various items, such as clothes, carpets or even furniture.

Cat odor removal is a more complicated task than you may think, because you need to remove both cat dwelling odor as well as cat urine odor. Let us take a look at some practical advices on cat dwelling odor removal.

Most of us who have cats know that we get attached and used not only to our pets, but we also become insensitive to what I call their dwelling odor: the smell of their hair and other smells they produce and fill our homes with. We may not smell them, but when we have guests coming over they could surely tell you have a cat at home simply by that smell.

Even though this smell is not as bad as cat urine odor, it is impossible to remove it completely, because it is literally everywhere: in the air, on our clothes, on curtains, on furniture, carpets, etc. The only thing you can do is to mask it with other stronger and more pleasant fragrances.

You may use chemical purchased deodorants, or burn some natural oils at home. If you do not have any special aroma candles, you may simply put several drops of your favorite aroma oil on your light bulb. When you turn the light on, the bulb will get warm and the oil evaporating will fill your home with fragrance.

Once in a while you may also use vinegar in your home cleaning for removing cat odor. Simply add several table spoons of vinegar (you may use apple or wine vinegar for nicer smell) to a bucket of water and wash the floor with such solution. Or, add a table spoon of vinegar to one 2,11 pints of water and clean your carpet with it.

And, of course, daily vacuuming of your carpets and soft furniture will remove cat hair and greatly reduce cat odor in your home.

If you are set on removing or eliminating cat odor in your home at least for a while you may resort to ozone cleaning. Ozone not only removes the smells, but it ruins and destroys odor molecules. Of course, such cleaning cannot be done in a do-it-yourself way, but if you call specialists in cleaning they will allow you to enjoy odor free home for a while, removing all presently existing odor sources.

Even though all these cat odor removing methods can give us extra trouble in home cleaning, true cat lovers are always willing to suffer such trifles of life being rewarded by our pets love.
