The 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event Day 1A held at the RIO casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 6th, marked the beginning of what has become known as the largest poker tournament on earth. If you were there, the most lengthy ones begin with, 'I had pocket Aces and...', accompanied with looks ranging from sad to angry. Beginning tomorrow, combination of these fields will start with Day 2A hosting players from Day 1A and 1B for another round of elimination through 6 levels of long and psychologically draining, emotionally devastating play. There were 1,743 players at the tables today compared with 1,545 for Day 1B and 1,287 for Day 1A. Statistically, there were a total of 6,358 entries, making this year’s Main Event the second largest live poker tournament ever played. Some players work at keeping a good image, others need all the help they can get. Day 2 action took off on a fast start with one player busting out on his very first hand. Based on the order in which they registered, they were then seated as original contestants were being eliminated during the first couple of hours of play. During breaks Hellmuth, sometimes described as a "ticking human time-bomb", could sometimes be seen pacing the tournament hallways in isolation. Everyone laughed at the idea, except Harrah's who declined the chimp's entry into the tournament. He sat down with only 13,000 only to lose his last $1,000 chip to Chip Reese. In one hand, both players had pocket Aces, but when four more heart cards hit the felt one player came out victorious! Another one for the books took place when Darren Locke had pocket Aces, and after a flop of 8d 7c 2d two other players went all-in with $17,500 each. Turned out he was right to do so as one player held pocket 7's the other pocket 8's giving each 3 of a kind and no help came on the turn and river for anyone. One of the best events to put on for it has come on by the huge interest in poker. Tom Howze is a webmaster for sites that relate to the 2006 World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour events, updates and information. Within minutes of the start players were rebuying more chips. And comedy relief was provided by Brad Garrett and Ray Romano from the "Everybody loves Raymond" television series. For instance the game in level 1 was Limit Hold'Em, in level 2 the game was Omaha 8/OB, level 3 game was Razz and so on. Poker fans were able to watch the final table live through ESPN Pay-Per-View as well as on their V CAST enabled cell phones. The goal for each player in the Amazon room is to last 6 levels a day and survive. Action over Day 1, which was spread out over 4 days, proved to be very intense with the sole object being to just survive to the next round. Officials are saying that the last round tomorrow Day 1D should have the greatest number of players which may be 1800 plus. A lot of players had fun with the rebuys going all in with out looking at their cards, cracking jokes along with other mindless acts. The only one close to him was Daryn Firicano having $450,000 and Juha Helppi with $436,000 in chips. Paul Wasika, Richard Lee and Rhett Butler combined an understanding of the game with the luck so many prayed for to gain massive piles of chips.
