Caravan News: Bbc Tone Down The Stunts On Hit Tv Show Top Gear

By:

Over the years Top Gears stunts have gone from the latest craze to absolutely crazy, but according to the Guardian website the new series will feature fewer crazy stunts and become more serious. Before we close the door on the daft stunts, lets take a cruise down memory lane and reflect on the highlights of previous series.

One of the most notorious stunts was the Airship Caravanning episode, which was only tangentially related to cars, and managed to combine Top Gears love of pointless indulgence better than most, reports the Guardian website. According to the Telegraph website one of the craziest stunts was when the members of the cast decided to build a boat made out of cars and cross the British Channel needless to say this did not end well, but as always made good television.

Another classic episode was the one where they tried extreme motorhome racing. Seen as the motorhome is really just a caravan with an engine, its hardly a surprise to see the Top Gear boys find an excuse to smash a few up.

Top Gear is one of those shows that its almost impossible not to like, according to Sky.com, even if you dont like cars or even the oddball presenters, over the last few years the BBCs flagship motoring programme has become less about actual motoring and more about grown men mucking around like children.

This however is about to change, with the new series, which started this weekend, promising to be about actual cars, not cars decorated like cottages, or cars strapped to the side of hot air balloons. If you need proof that this series is still guaranteed to deliver on (toned down) craziness, Top Gear magazine has reported that during the filming of the new series 19 Range Rovers were used but only 18 were returned intact and more worryingly, 12 fire extinguishers were urgently deployed while filming.

Ahead of the first episode, James May has done the unthinkable and warned viewers not to expect as much Last of the Summer Wine tomfoolery as theyre used to. Its good to see the presenters havent lost their unique sense of humour.
