Some cars are not designed to allow the user to maintain them easily. I have had cars that have been an absolute pleasure to drive but maintaining them was a nightmare. For instance, I had a car that made me loosen the manifold every time I wanted to top up the oil. That car didnt last long. I wanted to
sell my car in the first month of owning it. The reason I bought it was because I was so impressed with the test drive. Needless to say; when I went to sell my car I didnt let the buyer know about the difficulties in maintaining the car and I let them fall in love with it the same way I did.
Sometimes it seems like a car isnt meant to be maintained properly it is also something a lot of buyers dont concern themselves with because they dont do their own maintenance. If you have a car like the one in my example then you are probably looking for a buyer like me. If I want to sell my car I never make mention of how easy or difficult (unless it extremely easy) the car is to maintain. A lot of the time it is just not worth mentioning. The rest of the time if the buyer is interested they will ask. In these situations when I want to sell my car and the buyer asks I will tell them that I dont maintain my cars myself but I am extremely lucky to have a relative that checks the oil and maintains my car for me. This works well on a couple of levels.
If someone doesnt think you maintain your car yourself it might seem like a bad thing. However, if you tell someone that you dont maintain your car yourself but have someone do it for you then they might be more inclined to assume that whoever is maintaining your car is a professional in the field. This may seem a little dishonest but in my case it isnt actually so. The relative that checked out my car every couple of weeks was actually a mechanic so it was something that I could use to spice up the cars description. It also allowed me to get away from having to tell the buyer how bad the car was to maintain.
