Capcom Tries New Advertising Strategy With Dead Rising 2

By:

Capcom Games' 'Dead Rising' was wildly well-liked in its time. Followers have patiently awaited the game's sequel 'Dead Increasing 2'. Within the years since 'Dead Rising', video game technology has improved drastically. This is promising for 'Dead Increasing 2', and players around the world are anticipating an even gorier bloodbath of a game.

Even though the Web has been abuzz with rumors and talk about 'Dead Increasing 2' for months, Capcom Games is attempting a new advertising technique to improve interest for the sequel prior to its upcoming release. Capcom released a standalone mini game in advance of the release of the full 'Dead Increasing 2'.

The stand-alone is known as 'Case Zero'. In it, the hero, Chuck Greene, must battle zombie hordes while he searches the town of Still Creek, Nevada, for weapons, rations, mechanical parts to fix a motorcycle that is surely his salvation, and also the medicinal vaccine which will save his daughter, Katie, from joining the ranks of the undead herself. Katie has been bitten by a zombie and the clock is operating against Chuck as he fights to save both their lives.

Like its predecessor, 'Dead Rising', and also the coming sequel, 'Case Zero' is action packed. The concept of fighting the zombie horde is sufficient to have several individuals hiding under the blankets on their memory foam mattresses. But several players, older teenagers and younger twenty-somethings in specific, will probably be missing a lot of required mattress time as they join the battle to save young Katie's life.

The real genius of Capcom's new advertising technique is that the stand-alone journey, 'Case Zero', fills in the back story for 'Dead Increasing 2'. This means that followers shouldn't miss the chance to play the mini game, lest they miss fascinating or even essential information. Gaming followers and reviewers everywhere are downloading the trial. Plus, Capcom's advertising team has taken it even further. A mini trial could be downloaded for free. The complete 'Case Zero' journey could be downloaded for a meager $5 USD. The early reviews say that serious players can expect to play it through in about 3 hours. They add that this $5 journey has sufficient material packed in to be worth playing more than once.

This advertising technique isn't entirely new, but it's efficient and, well, fun. Followers love to obtain a small taste of what's to come, and it helps keep them busy while they drool in anticipation of the imminent game release. Plus, the added intrigue of possibly learning something about the back story that isn't obtainable elsewhere drives interest. As 'Case Zero' takes place three years prior to 'Dead Rising 2', it will probably be fascinating to see what happens to poor, small, bitten-by-a-zombie Katie. Several players will have trouble falling asleep on their mattresses until they find out.
