Canvas Painting - History And Uses Of Canvas Painting Revealed

By:

Time and again, a female resident from Bridgewater has put the marvelous beauty of Shenandoah Valley on canvas. Capturing beauty of nature isn't her only goal from carrying around easel and oils to mountains and cornfields. She paints from hundreds of photographs she has clipped from the daily newspapers over the years.

According to her, she can put back the color in an old fashioned way, which is black and white. Then she adds that cutting out photos of animals and objects give her the chance to paint better and larger scenic paintings.

She gets a used newspaper photo clipping with two millstones and says that she used it to paint the 15 by 4 mural on her family room. The rustic millhouse near the riverbank in the photo blends perfectly well with the grey mill wheels.

The artist gives emphasis to the large mural on her wall about how she uses the pictures to add small details to her work, such as wood land animals, farm equipment and crops, and weatherboard buildings. Water is the one thing that she needs there. Water, however, is easy to use for painting because it dries out fast.

She displayed another newspaper photograph of a snow scene and said she plans to begin a painting from it very soon. Snow is quite fast to do and easy to paint.

Quite the irony, she only has one or two smaller paintings and the large mural displayed on her home. Apparently, the rest of her countless paintings are either sold or given away.

Her items are usually sold through a Hagerstown furniture dealer in Maryland. When somebody, like a neighbor or a friend asks for her to paint, she does it willingly.

She is always so busy with so many orders. Because her paintings are really good to wrap in ribbons and give away as gifts, she gets more orders during Christmas.

The artist, who is a native of the Green mount section of Rockingham County, began painting when she was 13, when an old lady in the neighborhood gave her a few lessons. At that time, she paid the lady only 25 cents for each afternoon lesson.

She showed a small pallet that her mom made from a lightweight board with a paring knife and a drill. There is a little note about how it was made on the old pallet, which is smeared with paint.

They also made a family room and decorated it with materials from their church that was torn down long ago. One wall of the additional room is almost entirely made of glass, through which the afternoon sun shines brightly and through which the river by their house can be seen in clear view. According to her, they wanted to bring the outside on the inside.

As she was making the mural, she was bothered about something that would fit the room perfectly. The artist even had to redo the painting because halfway because the children didn't like the mixture of tithe painting, bright foliage in rusts, gold and reds to fit the family room. Since other paintings and the sunny den would most likely not get noticed, and that the attention of people will just go the mural, she decided that she would keep her house as it is.
