I have always been a shutter bug freak. I have had lots of cameras with me since my childhood days and I just can"t get enough of them. I used to spend a lot of money on camcorder and cameras in order to satiate my hunger for these gizmos. All my friends used to consult me for their camera shopping and I used to guide them. Later I started to write reviews of the various camcorders and cameras for various blogs and periodicals. They are published all over and my friends say that they are the
best camera reviews ever. I am here writing about two devices that I have tested in the past. I am giving you a short review; go through it if you are looking to purchase a camera or camcorder.
Canon Vixia HF S21 camcorder: This was one of the most recent camcorders that I got in my labs for testing. Canon Vixia HF S21 camcorder has an excellent set of features, you can tweak the device according to your preferences and thus play with the video output. There are dual SDHC slots for putting in your memory cards so you don"t have to swap out a card immediately after it is filled up. Finally, I loved the interface, it was well designed and user friendly.
Canon Vixia HF S21 camcorder comes with some flaws too though. For instance, the touch screen menu system is not well designed and I had to struggle a bit in my lab tests. The battery life is shorter as compared to other camcorders in the competition. By default, the camcorder is set to low quality video mode. A newbie might not know this; he might use this mode forever and thus balk at the quality. There are two slots for memory cards for but there is no support for SDXC format which is kinda bummer. This device is also relatively expensive that others in the market. This camcorder has two more siblings in its family "" the HF S20 and HF S200. I would recommend you this device only if you want manual controls. If you don"t need manual controls, there are cheaper camcorders available.
Nikon D3000 "" I have tested this camera a couple of time and in my
Nikon D3000 review, I mentioned that it has an excellent control panel; the guide mode is great for people who are new to cameras. Finally I was pleased to see that the photo quality was good even at ISO 1,600. But I won"t recommend this camera to people who look for a lot of settings because the feature set is pretty basic. I was also frustrated by the cameras, annoying multiselector switch. To sum it up, I would say that the though the feature set is basic, the performance and photo quality is close to that of a dSLR and the interface too is very user friendly. Buy this device if you are looking for dSLR like quality.
