Cannock is the largest town in the Cannock Chase District in the county of Staffordshire. The city is located 32 km north of Birmingham. Cannock was known for coal mining, so the atmosphere was conducive to the growth of several industries. Also, due to its proximity to the Black Country, the city became more dynamic and affluent.

Cannock hosts a series of cultural events for the mass. Cannock events are part of peoples lives. The city has a big city center with renowned street names. The long array of public entertainment facilities such as nightclubs, pubs, bars, and swimming pools demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm of the people in Cannock. The most renowned nightclubs are Silks and Stones. Other popular nightclubs in Cannock include Forge, Piques, Academy, Bar 77, Ubar and Bar Spot. Maymies, Cannocks largest nightclub, was shut down in November 2005.

Apart from these clubs, Cannock also has got a lot of entertainment centers spread across the city. They include swimming pools and an ice rink, known as Silverblades. The city also has outdoor and indoor markets and a big shopping center. Shopping is also active in areas like Longford Island Industrial Estate and the Orbital Industrial Estate, which are away from the town. A multiplex cinema hall is due to be constructed. The project has gained approval from local planning authorities. Cannock offers you a wholesome meal as well. The city hosts a number of restaurants, which also include indian restaurants.

Cannock events gain more popularity during summer holidays. These events give a relief to parents and kids from the weariness of summer and offer them a cool break before they start their new session. A lot of these activities are especially designed for children. An example is the Bugsy Malone - Summer Workshop at Prince of Wales. Important upcoming music concerts include Stars in your Eyes at the Ramada, Saturday Night Fever Night, and 80s Night.

Cannock is connected to nearby cities with an extensive network of local buses offering service to and from Cannock town center. Arriva Midlands is the main bus operator in Cannock. Cannock railway station, which was closed in 1965 as part of the Beeching Axe, was reopened in 1989. It is now part of the Rugeley - Cannock - Walsall - Birmingham line operated by London Midland and runs two trains per hour from Cannock station to Rugeley, Walsall and Birmingham.
