Cancellation of tickets before the train departs
Cancellation of I-Tickets is no longer a lengthy and a difficult procedure as it can be cancelled at any reservation desk which has the provision of a computer all over the nation and a cancellation slip can be acquired. No repay will be agreed. The money that is being charged by the Payment Gateways/Banks is not subject to repayment in the case the tickets are being cancelled by the traveler. The charges which are taken for the booking of the ticket are also not refundable. The money that is to be refunded will be accredited to the personal account through the computer, the subsequent day of cancellation. The money shall be transferred following the subtraction of cancellation charge of the ticket as follows:

If the ticket happens to be confirmed and is cancelled more than 24 hrs prior to the programmed exodus of the train, then cancellation charges would be Rs.70/- for AC First Class/Executive Class, Rs.60/- for AC 2 Tier/AC 3 Tier/ ,Rs 60 for the chair car,Rs.40/- for the ordinary Sleeper Class and Rs.20/- for Second Class. In case the confirmed ticket is cancelled just 4 hours prior to the departure of the train minimum of 25% is deducted.

Cancellation of tickets after the train departs
I-Tickets can also be terminated at the station from where you are boarding the train, within 4 hours prior to the planned leaving of the train and Up to 3 hrs subsequent to actual exit of train for tickets up to an approximate distance of 200kms Up to 6 hrs after real departure of train for tickets to a distance of 201-500kms. Up to nearly 12 hrs of the departure of train for tickets above a distance of 500kms. For these cases the charges levied would be minimum of 50% of the price of the ticket. Submit the I-Ticket with the Station Master and acquire a slip fo the ticket deposit.

IRCTC will work as per their system and refund the money from the Railway Administration and money approved by the Railway shall be acredited to your individual account .This is a long process and takes quite some time and you have to be very patient with that.

All the above set of laws of Indian Railways can be altered without prior notice.
