Can You Triple Your Ebay Income Today?

By:

I am going to reveal a little known tactic that can triple your eBay gains. This method is so easy. However, only a few eBay marketers take advantage of it, in spite of the fact that it takes so little work. What is it?

Backend Sales!

Allow me to show you an example of something I did. I observed there were a number of eBay marketers who were marketing large batches of greeting cards. Unbelievably, when I first checked it out, there was a lot of 1,000 cards for sale, with just two days left in the auction. Guess what the highest bid was?

$1.00!

Can you believe it? The winning bid ended up a little higher, but not by much. When the auction closed, the high bidder got 1,000 greeting cards for less than a penny per card.

There are numerous eBay marketers who commonly market batches of 25 greeting cards for five dollars or even more. How much profit could you make if you purchased 1,000 cards for $1.00 and then turned around and sold them all for five dollars per set of 25 cards? Two hundred dollars, which is a 20,000% profit! Not bad.

By the way, there are bargains comparable to that on eBay all the time. You can find many of them by performing some simple eBay market research.

However, this article is not about discovering bargains on eBay and reselling them for a good return. That will be a topic for a future article. So now, back to backend sales (no pun intended).

These gigantic batches of greeting cards become available for auction on eBay regularly. So, I resolved to use them as a backend sale product. Here's my strategy.

I purchased a large lot of greeting cards for around two cents per card. I then put together an order form to sell the greeting cards for $0.20 a piece (you can always increase the price later). Every time I sent something I sold on one of my auctions, I just included a sample card & envelope in addition to an order form.

When my buyer (high bidder) received purchase, they were surprised and happy to find that I had included a complimentary card that they might be able to use (nice little gift). And, they were able to see that they could purchase more cool cards, for just twenty cents a piece, in batches of 25. Since most cards routinely retail for two to three dollars per card, that represented a savings of greater than 90%. That's a pretty cool offer.

The great thing about this method is that anybody who ever purchases something from me can become a life-time customer. They may buy cards from me for a long time to come. My first "one-time" sale to them could become a life-time profit stream, as they reorder cards over and over again.

You can use the same strategy. All you need to do is source a consumable product that people buy, use up and buy again. Purchase the product on eBay for at a bargain price, or through a top notch wholesale source. Make up an order form that you can enclose sales. Then, kick back and watch the cash roll in. Cool!

Don't forget, your backend products do not need to be greeting cards. That is just an instance of something I happened to notice. You might find other fantastic consumable products that are a more relevant fit for the type of products you usually sell on eBay. What you really want is to find products that people will purchase over and over again.

To summarize, backend sales is basically the process of selling more products to buyers who recently purchased something from you. The most opportune time to follow up with a potential life-time buyer is when they are already happy with a recent purchase and they are in the "buying mood."

Don't forget, the ideal backend item must be consumable. Once you get a new customer, you want to offer him another product that he will need to reorder from you each time he runs out of his supply. This will create lifetime buyers that can be the beginning of a never ending revenue stream for you.
