Can You Really Sell A Home Yourself Quickly And Without A Realtor?

Have you noticed the same trend I've been seeing lately? Doesn't there appear to be something happening in the housing market that's causing more and more homeowners to sell houses themselves? Actually, I've been selling my own houses for years because I'm an investor, but I've noticed so many people who live in the one house they own making a choice to sell a house on their own. Hopefully, they all have a written plan to follow that will inform them how to handle each step towards closing. I am wondering if most of them have ever put much thought into the marketing and closing processes at all. Do they have what they need to get a house sold today?

I hate to admit it, but some home sellers simply luck out. I guess that's just the way it goes for some people. For example, let's say your elderly neighbor wants to buy a house for a relative so she can move in and help with home care. Let's say he offers you a good price for your house, and so you make a deal.

You get the documents prepared by a lawyer for the title company, and the transaction closes easily, right on schedule. Now, wouldn't that be a perfect situation? No real estate commission to pay, no marketing costs, no hassles at all. The truth is, it's rarely that simple, and more often than I care to admit it's a roller coaster ride when trying to sell a home.

Yes, it can also be a smooth commute, but one way or the other, it's always a trip. To sell a house by owner you'd better take a deep breath and realize that it's a project that may consume a lot of time and energy, and hopefully won't go on for too long. It appears that a lot of sellers are waking up to the realization that they need to find a way to hang onto their house and live in it until the market improves, or they need to put a lot of personal effort into finding a buyer themselves.

Sadly, circumstances for many sellers leave them no choice but to sell. When a homeowner has to sell in spite of the fact that it's a tough market due to all the competition, he will need to know how to sell houses themselves in order to manage the transaction himself. It's a necessary fact of life for many homeowners today.
