Can You Quadruple Your Ebay Profits Practically Overnight?

By:

I'm going to tell you about a little known approach that can skyrocket your eBay profits. This strategy is so simple. But, only a few eBay sellers use it, in spite of the fact that it takes so little effort. So, what's the secret?

Backend Sales!

Let me show you an example of a tactic I came up with. I discovered there were a lot of eBay sellers who were selling enormous lots of greeting cards. In fact, when I first looked into it, there was a lot of 1,000 greeting cards up for auction, with just 2 days left in the auction. Can you guess what the high bid was?

$1.00!

Can you believe it? The final bid went a little higher, but not very much. When the auction closed, the winning bidder ended up with 1,000 greeting cards for under a penny per card.

There are several eBay sellers who routinely auction lots of twenty-five greeting cards at $5.00 and up. What kind of a profit could you generate if you purchased 1,000 greeting cards for one dollar and then turned around and sold them for $5.00 per batch of twenty-five greeting cards? Two hundred dollars, which is a 20,000% profit! Hard to beat.

By the way, there are deals comparable to that all the time on eBay. You can find a lot of them by doing some basic eBay market research.

But, this article is not about discovering bargains on eBay and reselling them at a profit. That will be the subject of a future article. So now, back to backend sales (no pun intended).

These large lots of greeting cards become available for sale on eBay frequently. So, I decided to use them as a backend sale product. Here's how I did it.

I bought a huge lot of greeting cards at around $0.02 per card. I then put together an order form to sell the greeting cards twenty cents a piece (you can always increase the price later). Each time I sent something I sold on one of my auctions, I just tucked in a sample greeting card & envelope in addition to an order form.

When my customer (high bidder) got their item, they were surprised and pleased to discover that I had enclosed a free greeting card that they might be able to use (nice little bonus). And, they saw that they could purchase more top notch greeting cards, at just twenty cents a piece, in batches of twenty-five. Since most greeting cards normally sell for two to three dollars per card, that represented a savings of more than 90%. That's a pretty cool offer.

The neat thing about this method is that anyone who ever buys anything from me can become a lifetime customer. They could buy greeting cards from me for a long time to come. My first "one-time" sale to my buyer can become a lifetime profit stream, as they reorder cards again and again.

You can use the exact same method. The only thing you have to do is source a consumable product that people buy, use up and buy again. Buy the product on eBay for at a bargain price, or through a reliable discount product source. Make up an order form that you can enclose sales. Then, kick back and watch the money roll in. Very cool!

Don't forget, your backend products do not need to be greeting cards. That is just an instance of something I happened to observe. You might find other great consumable products that are a better match for the type of items you typically sell on eBay. What you want is to uncover products that people will buy again and again.

To summarize, backend sales is nothing more than the process of selling more items to buyers who recently bought something from you. The most favorable time to follow up with a prospective lifetime customer is when they are already pleased with a recent purchase and they are in the "buying mood."

Don't forget, the ideal backend product should be consumable. At the time you get a new customer, you want to offer him another product that he will need to reorder from you whenever he exhausts his supply. This will create life-time buyers that can be the source of a never ending revenue stream for you.
