Can You Just Simply Wash The Pounds Away......

Weve all heard the quotes about when we should drink water: 20 minutes before a meal to fill our tummys up, a glass of water if we think were hungry just in case were thirsty and first thing in the morning to kick start our metabolism, but do we actually do any of this? Well perhaps we would if we understood what this could achieve for us........

Firstly let me tell you a few simple facts about water and our bodies you may already know some or all of these but let me remind you just in case youve forgotten.

Our bodies are largely made up of water, 55% for adult women and 60% for adult men, although overweight people have less water than thin people.

Water is used by our bodies for many different processes including; flushing out toxins, removing waste products, breaking down stodgy foods, speeding up metabolism, suppressing appetite, regulating body temperature, helping the brain become more efficient, energising the body generally, aiding communication between various organs (by providing a medium through which electrical impulses can be sent) and rehydrating the skin from the inside which improves circulation, which in turn fights the effect of ageing (improving the appearance of wrinkles, puffs up skin texture making it feel firmer and giving it a youthful glow).

There is a very interesting fact you may have heard it with relation to food, but its the same with water too. Starve your body and it will hold on to what its got! That is to say with food - stop eating and the body will hoard what you put in as fat, or with water - stop drinking (or drink little) and your body will hold the fluid instead of using it. This can lead to an uncomfortable bloated feeling or just simply being and weighing more than you should and not to mention hindering your body so it wont perform as well as it should.

So to counter act your bodys prime evil habit you must let it know that its not in a time of famine or drought, that doesnt mean go eat and drink everything you can get your hands on, but it is better to graze when it comes to food (on the right kind of foods) and to drink plenty of water when it comes to fluid.

By drinking plenty of water your body realises that its not in a time of drought and your body will let go of the banked fluid, this of course may result in more trips to the loo but with water being regularly consumed your body is more likely to flush through and let go. So not only will you benefit from losing a bit of weight, helping your body perform the way it should and generally feel better but you will also help your complexion and enjoy all the compliments of looking good along the way of your weight loss journey.

And remeber, if you can't stand drinking just plain water, simply try adding a slice of lemon, lime or orange...
