Can These Natural Cures For Psoriasis Really Stop The Itching?

By:

Will slathering a smelly glop of coal tar on your skin make your psoriasis symptoms disappear? How about swimming in the Dead Sea? Can eating shark cartilage put an end to your psoriasis forever?

Even more importantly... Why even bother with natural cures for psoriasis at all? Why not just use steroids to treat your outbreaks?

In fact, many people do enjoy success -- and even experience temporary remission from psoriasis symptoms -- with steroids. However, steroids are certainly not without side effects, including a compromised immune system, hyperglycemia, and Cushings Syndrome. What's more, steroid therapy is not a permanent solution to this painful and embarrasing skin disorder.

In other words, when it comes to steroids, for many people the cure may be worse than the disease. So for those suffering from psoriasis for whom steroids is not an option, what is the solution?

Now more than ever, people are treating their psoriasis with natural remedies. Problem is, there are literally hundreds of natural cures for psoriasis out there, many offered by well-meaning folks suffering from the condition themselves...In fact, I recently found 147 different home remedies on a popular psoriasis forum!

So how do you find reliable information on natural cures for psoriasis that might actually work for you?

Well, you are in luck!

Consider your search over... After extensive research, let me present to you the:

TOP 5 NATURAL CURES FOR PSORIASIS: (drum roll please).

1. COAL TAR: Yuck...Really? Believe it or not, coal tar has been used to soothe skin conditions for over 150 years, and was probably one of the first natural cures for psoriasis available. Today you can find coal tar used as an ingredient in over-the-counter ointments, creams, and shampoos, in concentrations of only 2% or less. While there are no common side effects of coal-tar products, be sure to limit your sunlight or UV exposure to avoid a sunburn.

2. SEA SALTS: Surf's up! Can't get to the beach? You can make your own homemade "seawater" in your bathtub. Please note that a salt bath is not recommended for areas of broken skin, as it may cause irritation. Here's the recipe for homemede seawater:

13 cups rock salt (kosher or table salt will do)
4 cups epsom salt
5 teaspoons baking soda

--- Simply fill you tub to normal bath level and add the ingredients above...Mix to dissolve and enjoy.

3. HYPERTHERMIA: Heat therarpies have long been used in the treatment of dermatological conditions such as psoriasis. Whether in the form of a heating pad, a hot-water bath, or sun lamp (watch out for UV exposure!), hyperthermia seems to provide good, if short-lived, remission of psoriasis symptoms with a minimum of side effects.

4. SHARK CARTILAGE: Scientific studies have shown shark cartilage to be effective in inhibiting the growth of new blood vessels on the skin that contribute to the spread of psoriasis. While research has yet to show a causal connection between shark cartIlage supplements and healing psoriasis, many folks have reported an overall reduction in psoriasis symptoms.

5. GLUTEN-FREE DIET: A 2007 study by Swedish scientists have shown that many people who suffer from psoriasis are abnormally sensitive to a wheat protein called "gliadin", and may get good results from a gluten-free diet.

So what have we learned? Let's review:

* Steroids may provide some symptomatic and temporary relief of psoriasis, but for many people they are not an option because of several unpleasant side effects.

* All of these natural cures for psoriasis have pros and cons, and what works for one person may create no results for another. My hope is that you may find relief with one or more of the treatments we've discussed in this article.

* At the end of the day, none of the above remedies can make the fundamental changes to your body that is neccesary to heal your psoriasis...They may be able to treat the symptoms, but unfortunately none can be considered a cure.

In fact, I am familiar with only one natural treatment for psoriasis that can actually be considered a "cure". You'll find much more information than I can cover here by visiting my blog listed below.

I know of several people who have seen lasting and even permanent results from this treatment...Maybe it could make a difference for you too. Best of luck and stay clear!

P.S. --- Please note that I recommend this treatmant only if you're very serious about getting rid of your psoriasis.
