Can Shipments In Transit Be Stopped?

By:

When you ship something with a courier company, in most cases you want it to get to its destination as fast as possible. However, there are some situations where you might realize that you've made a mistake, and that you want your Albuquerque courier to stop the shipment from being completed. Courier companies realize that there are times when their clients are going to want to stop shipments that have already left. Most courier companies make sure that they have measures in place which will allow their clients to do exactly that.

If you want to stop a package while it is in transit, you will probably need to either call your courier company, or indicate the stoppage through online software. The method which is best for you to use will depend on the courier company that you're doing business with. If you think that this is a situation which might crop up in the future, it is best to consult with your courier company beforehand to learn what method of contact they prefer for when an order needs to be stopped.

Usually, if you absolutely need to stop a shipment, calling the courier company that is moving your goods is going to be the surest way to make sure that your shipment doesn't go any further. When you call the courier company and actually speak to someone and request that they stop your shipment, you can be pretty sure that the required action is going to be taken.

There are times when a courier company is going to have a tool in their software which will allow you to change the request you currently have in on a given package. Using software to provide this type of request can be a very good way to stop a shipment, because the order will go directly to the driver's hardware. They will see on their dispatch instructions, or be contacted by the courier company and told that they are no longer supposed to deliver the package. This works exceptionally well in courier companies that have implemented a bar code scanning system. That way, when the courier scans the package before they are about to deliver it, they will see that the status of the package indicates a stop on the order. This is a great last resort to stop packages from being delivered in case the driver missed the initial stop order somehow.
