Can Offers On House Insurance Really Be As Good As The Adverts Say?

By:

It's a buyer's market when it comes to looking for great deals on insurance and yet with all the different insurance companies vying for your attention by offering cheap deals and discounts can they really be as good as the adverts say?

As with most things in life there are two sides to every thing and whilst some of the offers are really tempting in reality very few people will actually qualify for some of the best offers. Whether you look at online offers or television adverts offering free insurance for your contents if you purchase buildings insurance for example, when you read the small print, which companies are duty bound to display in order that they don't find themselves in trouble with the advertising standards authority, you will find that there are some very strict terms, conditions and restrictions applied to these fantastic deals.

In reality few people actually qualify, however, once the insurance companies have your attention and for most part your email or address details, you will bombarded with their advertising throughout the year! The insurance industry is so competitive that they will use strategic advertising campaigns which are carefully orchestrated to grab your attention and your custom.

Look at the small print and your will see that in order to qualify for these deals you have to be a new customer and usually must not have made an insurance claim within the last four or five years. As such there are only a minority of people who are able to take up the offers and save money. That does not mean to say that you can't find good deals or lower rates because you can, if you follow the advise of the money experts and swap insurance companies every year.

Insurance companies also hedge their bets, as people in the UK are known for remaining with the same insurer year after year, which is in most part due to the fact that people simply can't be bothered to spend time looking for a lower rate. As such once they have you on board they stand a good chance that you will remain using them at least for the following year if not longer and will therefore recoup the money they tempted you with in the first place!

So how do you go about finding these cheap deals? Well it means that you will have to spend time comparing quotes from a number of different insurance companies, however it is not quite as simple as that! Because along with making price comparisons you will also have to make comparisons as to what is included within each insurers quotation.

Whilst some insurers will include aspects such as discounts for buying more than one policy with them, for example both your contents and building insurance, there many be limits as to the amount of cover you are given on your contents. Which may mean that in order to have the full cover you require you will have to pay top-up fees or include optional extras for which further costs will be applied.

All in all the best advice is to listen to the money experts and invest time shopping around for the best deals in order to get a good rate on your house insurance, even if it means following the same procedures each and every year!
