Can Multi Stop Courier Shipments Be Scheduled?

By:

Sometimes it can be useful to have a courier make a larger pickup and then make several stops to complete your day's deliveries. This isn't something that every courier service Illinois based is going to be able to do for you, but most of them should be able to come up with a shipping solution that will work for you. The only way to guarantee a multi-stop shipment though, is to find the types of services offered by your courier company that give you more control over the shipment.

The first type of service that you know will guarantee you the ability to set up a multi stop shipment is when you actually subcontract a courier from your courier company for the day. This is something that is common with large companies who need to have a constant stream of small deliveries made all around the city over the course of a day. They just sub-contract a driver and have them make all of the deliveries. As long as the driver is just working for you and no one else, there should be no problem having them make multi stop shipments.

The next type of service is more for those that are shipping huge amounts of cargo that need to organize very complicated deliveries. If this situation applies to you, you may want to look into getting an FTL shipment. FTL stands for full truck load. Unlike the majority of shipping situations, when shipping FTL, yours will be the only goods that are on the truck that you are using. Therefore, you are free to dictate any particulars of the shipment as much as you like.

Even if you can't afford, or do not want to arrange for these types of services, you should still have no problem getting a multi stop shipment made, as long as you discuss your delivery requirements in depth with your courier company. They are there to work with you, and most good couriers put a very strong emphasis on problem solving. Realistically, you shouldn't need to worry about what you can or cannot do with a courier. You should decide what you need in terms of delivery to make your business work. Your courier company will then work hard with you to make that happen. Just call your courier company directly and ask if they can offer opinions on a difficult delivery that you have to make, and you might be surprised with what they can offer you.
