Can Michael Douglas' Kids Be Happy He Won't Talk Too Much

Said Michael Douglas with a brave sense of humor referring to the side effects he is already having, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for less than a month for his stage 4 Head and Neck Cancer.

It is truly sad. The Star, who entertained and charmed us on the big screen will very likely lose some or most of his voice in the battle he is fighting with cancer, which is one of the lasting side effects of conventional treatment, amongst many others.

We have seen many people, amongst them Stars, getting disfigured, losing their voice and part of their neck and some teeth even. When is enough going to be enough? Why are people so ignorant and blinded towards alternative treatments compared to surgery, chemotherapy, radiation? Sure, those are the usual three modalities that are mostly known, but has anybody wondered why they are the only treatments immediately available to anyone who is battling with cancer?

Perhaps, because those are the main ones covered by insurances (surprise, surprise..)? Perhaps, because those are the ones that are FDA approved? Perhaps because those are the ones supported by the enormous pharmaceutical industry? And perhaps there are always some people that will scare cancer victims that NOTHING ELSE works than the normal conventional treatments.

When it comes to fighting cancer, you need to take charge of your own health, because if you do not, no one will. It is extremely challenging as you are bombarded by information, instructions, advice and people that tell you what is the best thing for you to do and on top of that it is one of the scariest period of your life.

In Michael Douglas latest movie, he plays the role of a rapacious money wizard, who has just gotten out of jail and is suddenly facing the reality that life is finite, just when Douglas is doing the same thing.
He comments: "The parts catch up with you, I guess."

Things really do not have to go so badly, if he had the information, knew the statistics and decided in time that perhaps a less aggressive treatment is actually going to be by far less invasive for his body and his life.
