Can I Stop A Shipment Mid-transit?

By:

There has been a revolution. If you compare the way businesses operated a few years ago with how they operate now, you will not miss the huge difference. With instant communication, you not only have the ability to order for anything anytime, but also possess the ability to track your shipments. No industry has been left behind but the courier industry has adopted these technological changes to a much higher level because to attain the highest customer expectations and beat the stiff competition, companies cannot afford to be left behind as the information blaze continues to bite into new frontiers.

Before any shipment leaves the depot, it has to be adjusted precisely with regard to GPS units, advanced courier software programs and cellular phones. These technologies serve as tracking tools for the shipment. Despite all these measures, it is still extremely difficult for a client to stop shipment in mid transit for a couple of reasons.

While a solution can be found in cases where clients decide to stop their shipments in mid transit, such solutions are completely variable from between companies. Different charges are applicable to different situations and the type of shipment that the client wants to stop. For those businesses dealing in small shipments, it may be comparatively easier for the shipment to be reversed and returned to your warehouse. For the inconvenience, certain fees may be levied. Moreover, since couriers operate under an extremely tight schedule, holding your shipment prevents them from attending to other commitments. Therefore, they will charge you a surcharge. Not need to mention, the charges of getting your shipment from the stop off where it had been left back to your warehouse will be footed by you.

Situations that call for a reversion of the shipment to your facility may vary and it is within the client's rights to call for a stop in mid transit for whatever reason so long as they are going to meet these extra charges. Calling off the delivery in the middle of the transit does not in any way imply that your reasons for stopping the transit are irrational. In fact certain situations explicitly call for such an action.

What is important is that while you strive to ensure that your business is running smoothly, you should adequately make arrangements for such eventualities from time to times. You do not need to disclose the reasons for such an action whatsoever.
