Can I Schedule A Pickup At My House?

By:

It has become more and more common for people to request a courier service to make a pickup at their house. There is any number of reasons that this might be desirable, ranging from business to personal reasons. Many people now run businesses out of their homes and also many executives and managers now put several hours in from their homes.

For this reason, they may want to find an Austin courier service that will make a scheduled pickup from their homes. Many courier companies are willing to accommodate this, however, there may be some extra fees and charges associated with using this service.

The courier companies that will provide this service will often do so at the cost of a small added surcharge for residential pickup. There are several different ways the companies might structure the added expense which might be incurred for making a residential pickup.

The area that most homes are in is usually a very far way off of the beaten paths that courier companies travel, and if they don't have other pickups and deliveries to make along the route where your home is located then the majority of the cost of the expedition is going to be for that one pickup.

That extra fuel cost, and extra cost of labor for the driver is why you will have to face an extra fee or surcharge. If they choose not to use a fee or surcharges structure to cover the cost of the extra mileage, they may simply charge a fee per kilometer out of their central area of business that they have to travel. This means that if your residence is close to a business area of town, your extra fees may be negligible.

The only companies that might not agree to do a residential pickup are those companies that do have a strict limitation on the area that they do business within. There are some smaller courier and messenger services which very strictly outline the area within which they operate, and they won't travel outside of that area even for a surcharge or added fee.

This is simply because it adds a great deal of added complication and worry to their daily routes for a job that they don't particularly need. The only way to find out whether or not your courier offers this type of service is simply to ask them if they do or not.
