Can I Refuse A Shipment Sent To Me Cash On Delivery?

By:

There are many ways in which you can pay for ordered goods, one of them being thorough personal checks or by COD. The term COD can either stand for Cash on Delivery or Collect on Delivery. The Cash on Delivery method of shipping means that you have to pay the goods to the deliverer after you receive them. However, if you order goods on COD terms, you have the right to refuse the goods according to law. There are several reasons that may lead you to refuse the goods, among them being the fact that they could be spoilt, or even not the exactly the kind you had ordered.

There are several companies that make sales through the service, including the Miami Courier service. The company has been offering courier services through this method. The COD services are reliable, so you don not have to worry that your goods might never reach you. The courier also offers you the chance to refuse the goods if they are not in the condition that you expected them to be.

This method is advantageous to the buyers, and on the other hand disadvantageous to the sellers. The buyer benefits because he does not have to pay a single dollar if he refuses the goods. All the expenses are therefore catered for by the seller, hence the reason he experiences losses. Despite these disadvantages, sellers continue to sell their products on COD terms because in some companies, total sales made through COD account for almost ten percent of all sales. Of these goods, half of them are not paid for. You can therefore order goods on COD when you are not sure whether you want to purchase them, or if you want to check their condition first.

Such orders may also be made by buyers who have ordered for the goods, but do not have immediate cash to pay for them. This method also benefits the shipper, because he receives double payment from the sender, for delivering the goods and taking them back upon refusal. The law supports such refusal of cash on delivery shipments, to restrict companies from shipping products to the consumers without them ordering. While it prevents companies from selling goods to consumers without a legitimate purchase, it also protects consumer from dishonest companies that ship goods to people and then ask for payments later on. You should take advantage of such buying methods that are of benefit to you.
