A great way to ensure you actually use that treadmill is to "book yourself in" for treadmill time when your favorite TV show is on. How easy is this? All you have to do is commit to whenever a particular one hour TV show is on. The only rule is that you MUST be on the treadmill for the entire show. If you are absorbed in your TV show you will barely notice your exercising, and because you don't want to miss the start of your TV show, you will be on time.

If you're a busy person this works great too if you can't find time to exercise and watch TV separately. Plus it will stop you eating those snacks on the couch! Many times, all you feel like doing when you get home from work is sitting on the couch and watching your favorite show. This allows you to fit your exercise routine into your busy schedule, and you will barely notice that the time has gone by.

The important part is to make the treadmill workout comfortable for your exercise level. If you over exert in speed and incline, you will not feel like lasting through the entire television show, which is counter-productive. In fact, you may find that you will be hungrier than if you hadn't exercised at all. Once you have reached the proper cardio level to increase your metabolism, you will feel a surge of energy as your body burns fat stores for more energy at the increased level.

Be sure you drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout to stay hydrated and make the stomach feel fuller. This is also helpful to wash away the burned fat cells from your body and flush toxins that your digestive system and metabolism have burned or eliminated.

Most people try to work several of the treadmill/television sessions into their week, and some use shorter, half hour sessions every evening while they watch the news, for example. Whatever method works best, however, hour long session will keep your metabolism burning calories more effectively and burn more calories. It can also keep your heart rate higher for peak calorie burning and allow a warm-up and cool down time to your treadmill routine.

The biggest complaint that many exercisers say about treadmill workouts is that they are boring and too routine to stick with. By timing your start and end time to your favorite evening program, you will barely notice after a period of time, and you won't be bored because your mind will be distracted by the television.

The best way to achieve a normal treadmill routine is to be sure you are able to comfortably position the treadmill where you can see and hear the television, whether you are using a portable, stow-away treadmill or set up a separate exercise room in your home where you have a television you can watch. Some people choose the separate room, if they have the space available, because sometimes the motion of getting the treadmill out and putting it away makes it more inconvenient than they like, so they tend to drag it out less often.

Whichever way works best for your space, try the television program- treadmill routine and see if it improves your attitude towards personal training with a treadmill.
