Can Couriers Arrange For Multi Stop Shipments?

By:

A multi stop shipment is something that might be required by many different larger companies that need to distribute their products to multiple consumers or distributors. There are times when this is possible, and times when it is not. There are certainly certain types of service that New Mexico courier services offer that are going to make it much easier for you to arrange for a multi stop shipment than others.

If you have decided that getting multiples stops made on a shipment is of the utmost priority to you, then you should start looking at the services where you know that this is always going to be an option. The best bet you're going to have is to stick to services where your company is going to be the only one that is shipping in a given vehicle. When you share a vehicle with other clients of a courier company, such as when you're shipping with a parcel carrier, or are shipping LTL, you are always under more restrictions. The courier has to accommodate everyone and this can make it difficult to get a multi stop shipment, of if you can, it can be difficult to structure it in the way that you require.

When you can get the precise service that you require in a multi stop shipment environment is when you have a courier vehicle all to yourself. If you're delivering many smaller packages to individual customers or simply small shipments to your distribution outlets, then a subcontracted courier from a larger courier company might work great for you. This is when a courier company hires out a driver to work for only your company for whatever period of time that you require them for. This allows you all the flexibility in the world to get your deliveries done in any fashion that you want.

This isn't going to work if you're shipping a large freight shipment across the country that needs to have a few different warehouse drop offs though. In this type of situation, an FTL service with a trucking company is what you're after. FTL stands for full truck load. It means that you are shipping in a full sized truck but that yours is the only cargo on board, as opposed to an LTL shipment when you might be sharing the truck with several other clients. For simple multi stop shipments, having a dedicated vehicle might not even be necessary.
