When you get laid off it can be a huge shock. Without realizing, you can connect it with several aspects of your life. All sorts of negative and frightening things pop up in your mind, like possible lack of money and also how difficult it might be to get a new job. If you happen to be over 40, there seems to be a common belief that you won't be hired anymore.

One of the most common and disturbing problem these days is lack of money, especially if you have a family to support. Money is very important part of our lives, whether we like it or not. If you get laid off this will cause you, even unwillingly, start to think your possible future money problems and this kind of thinking can even stop you from getting another job.

Keeping a positive mindset in these kind of events can be very difficult. On the bright side, you'll find that there are specialists that can help you, unfortunately these cost money, which you might not have. This is a nasty circle and anxiety can take over. Evebtually this might lead to panic attacks, which can be very strong and can even cause long term psychological effects.

The Layoff Process

Normally layoffs happens because company in question needs to keep costs down and layoff people just to survive. Naturally there might be another reasons for an individual layoffs, but we are not discussing that right now. Unfortunately, companies that are small, rarely can offer large compensation, if any, to people who are laid off.

These circumstances can lead to anxiety and panic attacks. If the company is larger, they can offer certain amounts of money as a "gift". These are not usually very large, but at least it can make a difference for your life while you are looking for another job.

The best thing an individual can do when laid off is to talk to friends, family and ask for support. It can make a huge difference. The people that are close to the individual can aid him get back onto his feet and can bring a huge element in that can prevent the appearance of an anxiety attack. If one of your friends or family members has been laid off, be sure to contact him and offer as much support as you can.

We, as human beings, have the means to help or destroy others. In these kind of cases, aiding another person is the thing you should do. Anxiety and panic attacks are not easy to deal with and if someone is suffering from them, he/she needs your full support. It is very simple; we have the means to help our friends and family members when they have bad times, like lay offs, in their life. In return, they can help us if and when the need raises.
