Camera Tripods are used for both still and motion photography to prevent the movement by camera. Camera tripods are necessary when slow-speed exposures are being made, or when telephoto lenses are used, because when the shutter of the camera is opened it will produce a blurred image by that movement. Camera tripods reduce camera shake as a result maximum sharpness can be achieved by that photography. It is also helpful in achieving precise framing of the image. When more than one image is being made of the same scene the tripod is necessary. Using a tripod may also allow for a more thoughtful approach to photography and for all of these reasons a tripod of some sort is often necessary for professional photography. They are also used as an alternative to C-Stands.

Tripod's function is pretty straightforward: it holds the camera in a precise position which gives you a sharp picture when it might have otherwise appeared blurred due to the shake in the camera.

Following specialty techniques requires the use of a Camera tripod:

If a series of photos are to be taken at different angles.
If the photos are taken at different exposures for a high dynamic range.

If the time lapse photographs are taken to produce an animation, a tripod is used.

If the series of photos are taken to produce a composite image such as selectively include people in a crowd.

If the photos are taken combining portions lit by daylight with the dusk time.

When you want to precisely control your composition, a tripod is needed.

When you need to have your camera in the right composition well in advance of the shot such as during a sporting event, a tripod is needed.
