Calculate Your Fat Loss

Calculate Your Fat Loss

By:

Many people that are morbidly obese are carrying in excess of 200 extra pounds, a lot of extra weight to be carrying on any frame! If you were to lay these 200 pounds of body fat out on a dining room table it wouldn’t leave you much room for anything else. Imagine all that fat gathered up in one pile. A shocking image, enough to put anyone off their dinner!

Losing 200 lb of body fat (14 stone 4 lb) takes time, patience and discipline, as well as commitment to a long-term exercise and nutrition program. The trouble is that most people don't have the patience to see it through to the very end.

How much do you have to lose?

How long will it take?

Let's do the maths....

Weigh yourself now in stones and pounds. Convert that into just pounds. (1 stone = 14 pounds, 1 stone = 6.35 kg)

Next, think back to when you were at your healthiest - early to mid twenties maybe.
Try to remember what you weighed back then, at your peak.
Take your current weight and subtract your ideal weight.
You now have your excess weight in pounds on paper.
By dividing this final figure by 2, you have the rough estimate of how many weeks it will take you to lose that excess body fat, provided that you stick to an effective eating and exercise plan that promotes fat loss. (It may take more or less time, depending on your efforts and your starting weight).
So, how did you do?
If you are left with a single digit figure, well done! Work hard for a few weeks and you will be back in shape very quickly.
If your target number of weeks reaches double figures, grab your calendar and mark off a month in the near future when you aim to reach your fat loss goal, preferably close to an upcoming event or holiday. Do it now and make it happen!
If you reach a three figure target, then don't lose heart. RIGHT NOW you need to get rid of the bad elements in your current diet - NO EXCUSES - alcohol, processed foods and sugar. Unless you take that step you will be forever accompanied by excess weight. At the same time, make a vow to be more active and more controlled with your eating and drinking.
Having a rough idea of how long your fat loss journey will take, and then setting yourself a realistic target date, is the only way you will ever come to terms with the work you need to do to reach that goal.
Calculate your end date and be prepared to work for it!
