Cabo De Gata: The Place For Andalucia Holiday Rentals

By:

Cabo de Gata is one of the largest protected areas in Andalucia on the Costa de Almeria. If you are looking for a nature lovers paradise where you can book your Andalucia holiday rentals then look no further than Cabo de Gata. This paradise has jagged volcanic landscapes, sheer cliffs, tiny islands, sheltered coves, excellent remote beaches and underwater reefs where you can dive and explore the marine sea life on your Andalucia holidays. Due to the geological and ecological importance of the area around Cabo de Gata it was declared a protected area only overshadowed by its magnificent beauty.

The area around Cabo de Gata offers you the opportunity to experience nature at its wildest. This protected area, known as Cabo de Gata Nijar National Park, includes sand dunes, rocky cliffs, salt marshes and sandy beaches. Some of the coves found along this stretch of coast are only reachable on foot; you can go for a walk or test your cycling capabilities on the twenty different marked paths that will lead you through some of the most dramatic countryside which is rich in wildlife. Bird lovers are not left out either, there is an abundance of migratory birds that visit the park every year to nest in the salt marshes. Due to the Parks ecological importance UNESCO declared this area a Biosphere Reserve in 1997.

A short walk inland from the rugged and desolate coastal area is a desert landscape that is sparsely populated with only a scattering of typically Andalucia holidays whitewashed villages in the mountainous terrain. Here you can go mountain biking and climbing but don't worry about getting lost as there are excellent off-road specialists that will recommend the paths to follow along with maps of the area.

Cabo de Gata has been able to keep its Spanish culture, tradition and cuisine as it has yet to become a tourist destination for the madding crowds. The beaches are also not overly crowded as a result you will be able to find a place to call your own and if its scuba diving you would like to do then the reefs are alive with marine life just waiting for you to take their picture. There is also sailing, kayaking and windsurfing available from the sparsely crowded beaches or if you need a little me time visit one of the little coves that seem to be tucked into the cliff sides.

Need a day away from your Andaluca holiday rentals then venture over to the thriving village of Mojacar Playa or its neighbour perched on the hillside above Mojacar Pueblo. This is a village of two parts with the newer more modern part being situated on the seafront with all the water sports you would expect to find at a seafront resort. The older Moorish town on the cliff top above the newer section has narrow cobbled stone streets and amazing architecture that will set the historians heart alight with joy.
