Buying Mlm Leads: Your Sponsor Is Probably Clueless When They Recommend It!

By:

It's pretty common that when someone decides to get serious about their network marketing business that they go out and buy a whole bunch of MLM leads, especially when it's something that most sponsors recommend right out of the gate.

But I'm here to tell you that buying MLM leads may be exactly the wrong thing to do.

Most sponsors highly encourage their downlines to buy MLM leads, almost as soon as they sponsor them, to help get their business moving. The reason why is because most sponsors already know that your new recruit needs to start making money within 90 days of joining if they're going to stick it out with your business.

If recruits don't start making money fairly quickly, they'll quit your business.

But here's the problem, most sponsors don't know that buying MLM leads really isn't all that effective and new recruits could spend less money, generate their own leads quickly, and make a lot more money in their new network marketing business if they just undertook a little training.

The fact is that most sponsors don't know how to effectively generate their own leads either, and that's why they tell you to just buy them.

Although it's not the method I recommend, let me tell you a little bit about buying MLM leads...

There are three basic types of mlm leads:

1. High Quality Targeted MLM Leads
2. Direct Response Generated MLM Leads
3. Cheap, Old, and Over-Used MLM Leads

Let's talk about each of them...

1. High Quality Targeted MLM Leads

Think back to when you were looking for a business opportunity for a moment. If you're like most people, you went out and proactively searched online for business opportunities. When you found a website that got you interested, you probably put your name, phone number, and email into a form, submitted a form, and got a call from a network marketer about their business.

In a nutshell, that's what a a high quality targeted MLM Lead is... someone like you who is actively seeking information about various network marketing companies and opportunities.

Although you can easily buy these kinds of leads from lead vendors, they are very expensive -- sometimes as much as $10.00 per lead -- and they are not directly targeted to you and your opportunity as they are when you generate your own MLM leads.

In addition, targeted MLM leads are usually sold to more than one network marketer. That means that you've paid for a lead that will get calls from other network marketers and be exposed to other companies. There's no guarantee that they'll join you and not the other guy.

2. Direct Response Generated MLM Leads

Another source of MLM leads is from people that aren't specifically looking for an opportunity, but they see an advertisement and compulsively request more information.

I like to call these people the tire-kickers because they aren't really looking for anything, but they might join your business if it looks good enough to them.

A lot of lead vendors sell these kinds of leads as "Highly Targeted" because there's really no way to separate them from the ones that really are highly targeted. In fact, when you buy leads you probably get more tire-kickers than you get really hot MLM leads.

Plus you can waste a lot of time with tire-kickers...

3. Cheap, Old, and Over-Used MLM Leads

Unfortunately, a lot of new network marketers get sucked into the idea of buying older leads because you can get a lot of leads for very little money -- often pennies per lead.

But you get what you pay for.

Lead vendors will tell you that there's gold in those cheap leads, claiming that if you email enough of them you'll find great prospects. I suppose that might be true... if you don't get your ISP shut down or pay a small fortune for MLM autoresponders that only deliver about 75% of email messages.

The fact is that there is a much, much easier way to get MLM leads... just generate your own!

In the end, you'll spend a lot less money and you'll get far better results. That's why I train people how to do it on their own. Don't get sucked into buying leads... even if your sponsor tells you to.
