Buying A Used Jaguar

By:

Jaguar is one of the premier marques in the world of motoring. If you buy a used Jaguar car you are purchasing sporting luxury, a combination style and elegance.

The X Type reflects the long history of luxury saloons produced by the company. Its simple, sleek exterior styling and beautifully finished interiors are typically British. The car was produced in estate format as well as standard saloon. There are three petrol engines available, 2.1, 2.5 and 3.0 litres, as well as two diesel units of 2.0 and 2.2 litres. Transmission comes in the form of five or six-speed manual and five or six-speed automatic.

The larger S Type debuted in 1999 and is more of an executive saloon. The styling is reminiscent of the Jaguar Mark II, one of the iconic cars of the sixties. There is a range of four petrol engine sizes, from the V6 2.5 litre up to the V8 4.2 litre; the diesel is a 2.7 litre V6. In 2002 a supercharged version on the 4.2 V8 was introduced, which was capable of accelerating the car from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds.

The XF replaced the S Type in 2008 and featured more aggressive, modern and sporting lines. You can choose from three different diesel engines or a 5.0 litre petrol unit. In 2009, the XFR variant was introduced, with a 5.0 litre supercharged engine that produced an impressive 510 bhp. The interior of the car is fitted out to a very high specification for comfort, safety and driver enjoyment.

The first car to bear the name Jaguar XJ was introduced to the public in 1968 and the most recent version may be the finest yet. It is styled in a similarly modern way to the XF with only one or two cues from its predecessors. The 5.0 litre petrol V8 is available, along with a supercharged version. There is also a 3.0 litre V6 diesel if that is your preference.

No piece about buying a used Jaguar car would be complete with a look at the sporting coups that the company produces. The XK series currently features two cars that are available as either a coup or a cabriolet, the XK and the XKR. The XK was introduced in 2006 and is powered by the 5.0 litre petrol engine. The XKR has the supercharged version of the same engine and has a top speed of 174 mph; the XKR-S variant can reach 186 mph.
