Buy A Baby Swimsuit & You'll Be In The Water In No Time!

By:

When many of us were kids, our parents never worried about putting us in swim gear - in fact it probably wasn't even an option then. But a baby swimsuit is an excellent way to give your child extra UV protection while they learn to love the water.

If you are planning to purchase one, make sure you look for one that has been tested and proven to protect from the harmful UV rays. They should carry tags that indicate their raitings - up to 50+ and should be able to block around ninety eight percent of harmful rays.

Look also for materials that are quick drying. Some suits look really cute on, but if they are going to take all day to dry, you'll feel less happy about putting them on next time. Many come with matching accessories such as hats and little wraps that make them incredibly cute for your infant or toddler.

You'll also need to invest in some baby swim naps, so that there isn't a nasty surprise waiting for you when outfit comes off. If you are planning to go for a dip or lessons in a public pool, it is generally a requirement to put your infant or non toliet trained toddler into one.

Once the baby swimsuit is on, it's time to get into that water! The most important thing over everything else is to relax and enjoy it. A tense parent makes for a stressed out child, and they are less likely to enjoy it. Most children love being in the water, but some more sensitive ones can find it hard to enjoy being plunged into cold water with you. Allow them to hold onto you as tightly as they need to and smile and talk to them to help them relax.

If they completely freak out, then remove them from the water, and play water games with them near the edge instead.

Hopefully they'll love it, and you can play games to increase their confidence. Get them used to popping under the water on the count of three (with you holding them and bringing them back up again!) and encourage natural kicking. Teach them also to blow bubbles on the water's surface (it's a precursor to breathing when swimming).

A baby swimsuit is not just a piece of clothing. It protects your child from the sun, and it's ready for you to pop on your child and take out to water somewhere to play. Which has got to be a good thing.
