Buttock Augmentation: Which Method Is Right For You?

By:

Buttocks augmentation is a procedure that is gaining in popularity. The media surrounds us with images of seemingly perfect rear ends and brings to the surface the realities of our behinds. There are options available to give you a more full, round buttocks area.

If you are unhappy with your rear, join the club. There are millions of people who are unhappy with the appearance of their buttocks, and many feel that there is nothing they can do about it. Maybe you've worked out over and over, maybe your genetics predispose you to a bottom that doesn't fit your definition of attractive or maybe you've had weight loss and your buttocks are looking less than firm. Whatever your reason, buttock augmentation is a procedure that is rising in popularity.

There are two basic kinds of augmentation for this area. The first one is to get butt implants. There are rumors of celebrities getting this done, and whether or not they're true, it is definitely a legitimate surgery. An implant is inserted in the following fashion: an incision is made at the bottom of the gluteal area where the bottom meets the thigh. The implant is then slid in and positioned where it should be, and can be placed either under the muscle or above it. After everything is in place, the incision is sewn up and the surgery is done.

The second type of augmentation is called a fat transfer. This procedure begins with the taking of fat from a different are of the body (often the hips or thighs). After that step is done, the fat is put in to a syringe and is injected in the areas that are lacking in fullness. One negative to this is that some of the fat will inevitable be reabsorbed by the body. Your surgeon will not have a figure as to how much will be reabsorbed, and you will need to wait about three months to see your actual new buttocks area.

Both of these procedures work and work well. There is less guesswork with implants, as a size is chosen and is then inserted. However, fat transfer offers the benefit of removing fat from somewhere else in the body and many people feel that this is more of a natural way to achieve the look they desire. One important thing to note is that fat transfer requires extra training. Therefore, if you decide to go with this procedure, be sure to inquire in to your doctor's experience level.

With any surgery it is important to make sure that the surgeon is a licensed and experienced surgeon. Any concerns will be discussed in your consultation appointment and in the appointments following. Your doctor is the best one to help you make this decision.
