When it starts getting cold outside, it c an freeze your water pipes, which can cause them to bust or crack. This can cause water damage to your homes when the pipes thaw because they can spray water everywhere. If it did cause the pipes to bust or crack, turn off the water when the water thaws and replace the pipes. When you replace the pipe, you will need to let it dry before turning back on the water so the pipes will not come off or pop off the connector.

Frozen water pipes when thawed can cause your house to flood because water may be running everywhere. You need to have insurance on your house for water damage so you will be covered for the damage for the frozen pipes. Do not wrap the pipe with a rug because it can leak water or cause the pipes to drip all over. The water may drip a few drips here and there, but it can still do a lot of damage in your walls and under your house. A busted or cracked pipe can cause a big one or a little one but either way, it will still do a lot of damage and the more it sets in, the worse it will become.

The water can absorb into anything like the wood in the floors, walls, furniture, and it can also get in the foundation, which can do even more major damage to your home. A busted pipe can cause the floors to become weak, and it can cause it to become dangerous to walk on. If a part of the floor is warm, you will need to check it out because it could cause a busted or leaky pipe. If water has leaked into your home from a busted pipe, you will need to clean it up right away so mold will not grow in your house and so the damage will not get worse.

Even when you turn off the water, you will need to place something underneath it to catch the rest of the water that will still be coming out. Busted pipes to the hot water heater can cause a floor in your house to get completely flooded, and the water can get everywhere like in the kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedrooms, and other parts of your house. It can do damage to everything like the floors, bottom of the walls, under the cabinets to the sinks, furniture, and the electronics. It can happen in the middle of the night while you are sleeping so you need to make sure that the pipes are protected from the cold.
