Business Basics Win Again

By:

Recently I was receiving a series of emails from an acquaintance of mine who has had considerable success on the Internet. He was extolling a program he was involved in and making income. Yes the income was real and significant I have no doubt of that.

I looked at it closely and could see that they did not have the right business basics in place but I also knew that they were aware of the problem and were making an effort to solve it. Indeed I have no criticism of the owner who had already tried once and failed. To his credit rather than run with the money he ensured that nobody made a loss and re-launched a modified program aiming at ensuring long term success. He was on the right track but still had not got it right. There was more that had to be done.

The emails kept coming and I must admit to feeling tempted. I knew my associate was genuinely making money from the program and I could see that this would continue to happen at least in the short term. The big problem was I did not know how long it would continue, the business basics were not right and that said it will fail in the end!!

After about 6 weeks the fail appeared to happen and an email was sent advising of the closure of the program and the operator, to his credit, planned to ensure that nobody lost again clearly a man of high integrity and one to be respected and indeed followed when he gets it right.

A few days later he advised that he had managed to salvage the program and it would continue in a much modified form and I must add the members were, for the most part, highly delighted. The modified form did mean that returns were considerably less than those my acquaintance was reaping at the time of his promotional material to me.

The important point here, of course, is that by keeping my mind on the business basics and off the hype I saved myself from a disappointment and possibly even great dissatisfaction. Had I followed my acquaintance I would have joined a very profitable program only to have it become much less profitable at about the time I was expecting to reap a significant income.

In this instance, because of the integrity of the web master, I would not have lost but I would have been disappointed in the final result. Of course if it had been a less honourable web master I would have lost as it would have closed without anyone ensuring there were no losses.

More than likely if the business basics say it will fail then that will, at some point, happen. So we can avoid the losses and disappointments as long as we keep our minds on business basic thinking and do not give into temptation. No matter how good the business is doing now if the business basics are wrong it will fail, the only thing that is not certain is the timing of that failure.
