Bunny Plush Are The Next Best Thing

Bunny Plush Are The Next Best Thing

By:

Bunny plush are the perfect companion; with their soft, silky fur, adorable face, and cushy body, they're the next best thing to the real thing.

Unlike bunny plush, having a rabbit as a pet is not all it's cracked up to be. There are many common myths and conceptions when it comes to having rabbits as pets and sadly, when the animal does not live up to the expectation, frustration often sets in and the rabbit ends up abandoned. The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) estimates that close to 80 percent of all pet rabbits end up homeless at some time in their lives. For those that want to be rabbit owners, like with any pet, understanding a rabbits basic needs, behaviors, and instincts goes a long way to making both you and the rabbit happy.

There is a familiar sentiment amongst those who want to get a dog as a pet that ultimately, they are simply too much work, so instead, they opt for getting a rabbit instead. Truth be told, a rabbit is as much work as any dog or cat; a rabbit needs fresh food and water on a daily basis; they need a fresh cage and litter box every day; for both their mental and physical health, a rabbit needs daily exercise outside its cage if kept in a cage 24/7, the rabbit will become depressed, bored and sad; and, like any dog or cat, a rabbit needs lots of love and attention from their owner.

Another common myth about rabbits is that they make a great first pet for children, teaching them much needed responsibility. The truth is, young children are not yet at an age when they can take on such a task and older children are often too wrapped up in their friends, homework, and extra-curricular activities to care for a rabbit the way they should. Not long after the rabbit is brought to the home, a child will often forget to feed it and/or clean its cage on a regular basis. The end result is that care for the rabbit falls to the parents, who, with already busy schedules, can often resent the fact that they have this additional responsibility, thus give the rabbit away - the true lesson of responsibility for the child turns into how to get rid of your responsibility instead.

Like with any pet, we typically enjoy both cuddling and picking them up when possible, however, contrary to popular belief, most rabbits do not like being held or carried. With its delicate bone structure, a rabbit may bite, scratch, or nip so as to free itself from what it perceives as an uncomfortable or dangerous situation, resulting in possibly injury to both the rabbit and the handler. Some of them will enjoy spending time with their human owner but that should not be mistaken for picking them up to hold them.

Since having a pet rabbit is much more complex than what was previously thought, bunny plush are really the only way to go. There is no need to clean a cage, worry about feeding, or being bitten or scratched by a bunny plush toy. In addition, you can pick it up and hug it, anytime you want to.
