Putting together a bucks night for your best friend (or for yourself in some cases) and you are stumped at what you can do? Everything seemingly so expensive in these money troubled times and yet we want to still celebrate our successes and our style changes in life going from single free roaming individuals into a life shared with another. These are moments that require celebration and celebration without sending you into ever increasing debt. Luckily there is a way to have a memorable bucks night event without breaking your budget. In this article I am going to use my experience in organising events and share with you a bucks night Adelaide idea that can be used anywhere and that will be an event remembered by all who attend. And at the very end of this article I will outline a simple cost effective short cut to doing all this yourself.


To begin with you find a venue (if you have time, find one that is under new management and that is trying to increase their clientele. There are many little gems around every main city just waiting to be discovered) and approach the owner telling them of your requirements and seeing what they can do to accommodate you. Remember that most venue owners are more than happy to have your business if you can guarantee them a minimum turnout and drinks at the bar. You wont even have to pay for the venue in most instances.

Hire a limousine or a stretched hummer (these are real eye catchers these days) and get picked up from your start location and taken on a 1 hour cruise before being dropped at the venue you have selected and bargained to have. (Usually if you have event planners do this for you they will give you discount rates because they receive substantial discounts themselves from their contact suppliers).

Regarding food and drinks organise it with the venue owner so that at the venue of your bucks night party there will be platters of food (as part of a package if you have event planners do it for you) and alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic beverages circulating and being served by a hired waitress/es (who can be dressed in theme depending on how raunchy you want this whole affair to be).

The opening of your bucks show will involve a stand up comedy act (which can be found quite affordably if you go local, and especially if you have some friends who know someone. Again this is much easier and cheaper if you can find event planners to organise this for you as they will have many local business contacts and entertainment contacts). This will lighten up the mood and set a great atmosphere for the rest of the night.

For musical entertainment you can even hire a live band or live musician or DJ (again going local will save you $$$ even though many locals have quite exceptional talent). You can even keep it simple and use your own USB plug in with your own chosen music if that is what you would prefer. You would be paying nothing for that except a little time. (Be sure to discuss with the venue owner what kinds of equipment they have or can support. If they have their own stage and equipment then even better.)

The main event, after maybe 1 2 hours of mingling you can all sit around at professional poker tables (set up and provided for you by event planners if you can find one who does this otherwise you can hire the equipment yourself. Though hiring event planners for this will save a whole lot of time, headaches and frustrations which you would otherwise have to go through.)

While you are sitting at the poker tables, enjoying yourselves and chatting away, the waitress/es will be serving you your drinks and walking around with platters of food so you can relax in your seat at the table. Nothing is worst than when you are having a great conversation and you have to go to the bar and order another drink. Leave that up to the waitress I say.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the poker dealers, will be attractive and absolutely gorgeously dressed girls adding that female element almost necessary for every bucks night event.

Remember the shortcut I told you I would reveal at the very end of this article?! Well you have probably guessed it by now. Hiring event planners to do this all for you (or any other party idea that you would prefer) will not only mean that you are saving yourself a great deal of time and trouble, but also that in quite a few cases you can have it all done at a cheaper price. The reason for this is that event planners have networking contacts with locally owned businesses who give them substantial discounts for bringing clients to those locally owned businesses.

On top of that, your money will all be going to local business owners in the community and in the times that we are in right now, with the GFC looming still, keeping money in the community is one way to help each other and help ourselves.
