Brow Lift: Know About The Procedure, Its Types And Post-surgery Care

By:

In our quest to always look our best-and hopefully look younger than our years-we often turn to cosmetic surgery, such as the brow lift. This is one of most popular procedures sought by both men and women who are looking to erase some signs of aging, and it is performed regularly.

The procedure is also called a "forehead lift" or an "eye job", and it's understandable why it would go by a few different names, since it can be done in some different ways. If you're considering this procedure, it's good to get some basic information on it first.

Reasons for Wanting the Procedure

Of course, there's one main reason why someone would want to get a brow lift, and that is because they simply want to look younger, more refreshed. In other words, they want to look better.

More specifically, though, someone may want to help diminish deep furrow lines in the forehead above the brow or lift a brow line that they feel sits to low and close to the eyes.

Some people turn to Botox injections to give a smoother look to the forehead, but others turn to the surgery because they want a more drastic improvement than the simple injections can provide.

Types of Procedures

A browlift can be done in a few different ways. One of the most common ways that the procedure used to be performed was to literally lift the whole forehead and brow by making an incision at the top of the forehead, pulling the skin up, and stitching it in place.

The incision is, of course, hidden by the hairline so nobody ends up with a "Frankenstein" look! Pulling up the skin naturally irons out some of the forehead and brow wrinkles. These days, however, more people are opting for something less drastic and less risky.

Though incisions are almost always involved, many procedures use smaller incisions and tiny scopes to go in and identify the areas that need to be lifted, then perform detailed work with as little invasiveness as possible.

What to Expect After

As with any surgery, there will be some swelling and discomfort after a browlift. For at least a few days, you're not going to think that you look very good at all. Within a few days, however, you should start seeing the improvement, although it can sometimes take a few weeks to see the full effect of the procedure.

You want to be sure to follow your doctor's instructions about aftercare, and get plenty of rest so that your body can heal effectively.

A browlift can be a real boost to the self image, if you be sure to get the procedure done that works best for you. Often people you know will simply notice that you look healthy and "refreshed", which is a great thing.
