The shoes that were popular few decades before are no more the craze nowadays. Fashion is ever changing with time. One such great instance can be seen in shoes. The shoes especially the brogues that were popular in the early times have again come into fashion.

However, now if you think that it is the same brogue that was available in the early times is still available nowadays in the fashion market, then you are wrong. There has been change in the style and there have been slight modifications in the structure as well. So, if you think that it is the same brogue with same styling and structure, you are completely wrong. If you see very minutely, you can very well mark the differences.

The very first difference is that the brogues of earlier times had perforations in the uppers and had a functional usage. The perforations were created because of the lifestyle of Irish and Scottish people, who always worked outdoors in damp environments. Even nowadays you can very well see the perforations on the uppers but nowadays they do not have any functional usage. They are only meant for fashion.

There is also a difference in the look. If you see very carefully you can distinguish pretty well the difference. Nowadays the shoes have a low heel and have a much sleeker look. So, the traditional design has actually been altered to suit the tastes and preferences of today's world.

Brogues were originally meant for men of Ireland and Scotland. But nowadays, these shoes are worn by people from all over the world. However, not only men but also women do wear the brogue shoes. The brogue shoes were used as working boots or shoes in earlier times but nowadays they are used as formal shoes by both men and women.

Unlike the traditional design, the leather used in brogues nowadays is tanned. They come up with tongues under laces, as opposed to the traditional ghillies, which didn't have tongue. The shoes designed and manufactured nowadays come up with low heels with soft soles and these features provide more comfort to the feet of the wearer. The laces in the brogue shoes used to be tied up till the ankle. However, this is no longer is fashion or practice.
