Therefore, side lighting does the trick here. It lightens up the subject and adds depth to the photograph. Also, the shadow plays an important role in defining the character of the photograph. If you want to get even more in to photography lighting and want a silhouette effect, simply put the light source, behind the subject and shoot it against the light. You will get a perfect silhouette with a simple photography lighting technique.
