Bride maid is a lady who has to accompany the bride throughout the wedding. The selection of the bride maid can be done from friends or relatives. It can be honor for a person to be chosen as bride's maid.

Traditionally, attendants pay for their own apparels. The outfit chosen by the maids should be same in fabrics. The color worn by all the maids should be same. They should give a joint gift to the couple. For a group gift pooling money can be a great idea. The bride's attendants host a shower for the bride. However, they should be excused from providing shower gifts.

The tradition of giving shower gifts has been the part of the ancient culture. Dowry is required to be given to the girl at the time of wedding. But sometimes parents were too poor to give anything to the girl. In some cases when a girl marries of against the wishes of her parents, she was denied anything from her parent's side. In such a situation, generally friends come to help the girl and a party is organized where all the guests have to bring some kind of gifts which may include household items which can be useful in their new home.

Usually the honor attendant and maid have to be together. They can help the bride set schedules for attendant fittings or wedding day dressing arrangements. They have to be present for any pre wedding photographs. Maid of honor along with the bridesmaids, help the bride select attendant's fashions and accessories. Deciding as a group will ensure that everyone is pleased with the final choice. At the ceremony, maid has to hold the bride's bouquet. She has to arrange the bride's veil and costume. Maid of honor can also sign the register as a witness of the ceremony.

After the ceremony, maid of honor and the best man will ensure that all gifts are stored or removed from the hall.

If the couple is leaving for honeymoon immediately after the wedding party, then maid have to take care of her belongings and presents and transport them to the place which has been made by the bride.

She can also take the bride's gown to the cleaner especially after the wedding.

Like wise, on the groom's side, groom's men will take care of the groom. They assist him in everything. They can help in his dressing. Generally, these guys have to pay from their pockets any type of expenses. They can arrange their apparels together so that the colors and fabrics of all the men are same.

Any traveling expenses can also be borne together. Groom's men should make themselves available for the pre marriage photographs. They can assist the guest in making them seated. They can also guide them towards the parking lot.

They can perform a number of other duties. It is the duty of best man to hold rings during the ceremony. Groom's men can also take care of his costumes after the party. They can also assist the maids in assembling the gifts.
