Bridesmaid Gifts: Whats In And Whats Out

By:

The giving of bridesmaid gifts has been a wedding tradition for as long as we could care to remember. Thus, make it a tradition that is going to be forever treasured.

They are your friends. They are your shock-absorbers. They are your semi-wedding planners. They are your support group. They are your confidence-boosters. If I were to enumerate just how many roles a bridesmaid can take, surely one page would not be enough. Your bridesmaids basically take the job of being your everything, right from that moment when you said yes as the man you love asked you to be his wife.

And lo and behold! These women do not even ask nor expect for anything in return, except that you show them the same support when it is their turn to walk down the aisle. This comes as no surprise, though. After all, does not an old wink-inspired rhetoric among friends that goes what are friends for.

I do not know who started it, but as we observe in weddings today, most brides make it a point to present their maidens with gifts. These presents are not payment; they are the thank you for the unpaid job they could have refused, but did not for the sole fact that you are their friend. If you are planning a wedding, one of the details that you probably want taken care of is the presents that you would give them.

Because of all the factors you need to summarily put together for a successful wedding, you may neglect this one little aspect. You might end up giving them something that they may have been better off without. Remember that these women are the ones who saw you through; you do not want to give them anything that is less than thoughtful. Thus, here are some tips you might able to use in choosing for presents.

What to give.
Ordinarily, a gift is something that is given because the giver knows it is one that the receiver will appreciate. And how can this are achieved? Of course, it can be done by carefully considering the options. You can never achieve this goal if the choosing is done in haste and without thought. One type of present that is good to give is something that is personalized.

Maybe you could give them a beautifully-designed handkerchief with a little message on the lower right corner for each bridesmaid from the bride and groom. The handkerchief is a practical material to give, and because it can be used regularly and brought anywhere, you need not worry they will forget about your wedding day anytime soon. And that is the goal, to give them something that will keep the memory of your nuptial in their memory forever.

What not to give.
Of course, there are also some things that are best left not given. Handing over money, for instance, is a particular no-no. You do not want to make your friends feel like what they did for you was merely a job borne out of business and not friendship. A money gift can be insulting. You also need to keep in mind that just because something is commonly associated with women does not mean that all of your bridesmaids will appreciate it, like flowers or chocolates. Someone in the group might be allergic to flowers, or someone might be disinclined with chocolates. Besides, these gifts are easily consumable. After the former withers or they have eaten the latter, no trace of your wedding souvenir is left.

There are definite yeses and there are vehement no-nos in the aspect of gift giving. Be mindful of them, and you will surely be handing bridesmaid gifts that can really say thank you.
